A Scout is Adorable

Aren't my Scouts adorable?

Here's a brief look at what they're up to in Scouts:
Joseph earned 5 Eagle required merit badges over the past 4 months, and his Star Rank.
He's currently serving as the troop Chaplain's Aid, leading prayers at meetings.
He's always ready to lead or join in a game of any kind.

Zachary is still progressing (slowly but surely) on his Eagle project.  The process of obtaining a building permit for the carport construction is proving to be a project all by itself!  No date has been set for his project, as it all depends on the permit issuance.
Zachary's current position is patrol leader, but rather than calling
the weekly meeting reminders, they are texted.
He's been working on Ad Altare Dei for about three years,
and we have high hopes that he will complete it soon.

Peter is well on his way to completing all of his Arrow of Light requirements.
He's earned over half of the Webelos badges, and his Webelos rank.
He's halfway through his Parvuli Dei
He'll cross over to Boy Scouts in February 2011.
He's come up with some interesting names to throw out for his new patrol come February~ most involving terms like flaming, burning, exploding, charred, etc.
Guess we could have seen that coming with his older brothers' patrols named
Kentucky Fried Dragons and Burning Bullfrogs.
How will Peter's patrol top names like those?

Suggestions welcome!

Eagle Project Approved

Here we are, all in uniform together at a recent pack meeting for Peter.
Departing for summer camp 2010... on the way to meet the troop & load the trailer.

Great news!
Zachary's Eagle Project has finally passed district Eagle Board approval!
It took a few tries, and a huge "all nighter" edit, but it's approved!
He will be meeting with the architect again the week after summer camp to go over the plans
and submit the building approval to the city.
Fundraising efforts will begin in earnest.
Final bids will be taken, work party dates will be set...
It's really happening, the rectory shall have a carport before.... well before too long we hope!

Zachary has shown such perseverance in this project.  Although the troop parent committee approved the project with flying colors, the first round at the district level brought rejection (after more than a month of waiting!).  It was initially found too difficult for him to carry out.  After an hour long conference he convinced the powers that be that this project was manageable and that he would truly be the leader in the process.  Many of his service hours to date were rejected, but he will have no problem accumulating the minimum number of hours.  No problem whatsoever!

Super Scout

Joseph has just about finished his term as the first patrol leader for his Burning Bullfrog Patrol.

His primary goal as a patrol leader was to help his patrol earn the National Honor Patrol Award.

Mission accomplished!

At the Court of Honor last week, Joseph had the privilege of receiving the National Honor Patrol Award on behalf of his patrol, and of distributing the awards to each of his patrol members.

Joseph reached his First Class rank a few months ago, and it was formally awarded at the Court of Honor. He's off to a great start in Boy Scouts. We are proud of him and his hard work.
